DEAR COMPETITORS, JUDGES, SHOW ORGANISERS, TRAINERS AND OTHER INTERESTED PARTIES
There has been a very exciting development from the New SANEF Technical Dressage Committee. For the immediate future on a National and Provincial Level Judges will have meetings at shows to discuss tests and judging. This directive has been put in place in order to improve and monitor the levels of judging both Nationally and Provincially with an eye to creating a sense of uniformity and communication across the board of judges. Please click here to read the article and be patient with show organisers and judges as they put these new strategies in place.
CALLING ALL DRESSAGE RIDERS: PLEASE CHECK YOUR GRADE!
In order to make sure that we are all properly prepared for the SA Champs this year, we have requested an extract from WPHS of all Dressage horses and ponies currently registered with the Society along with their current grade.

Please click on the classifications below to check to make sure your horse/pony is on one of these lists. If it is not or if it is in the wrong grade, send an email to info@wphsgrading.co.za stating your horse or pony’s name, its current grade and the correct grade. Otherwise if you have any queries, you can call the office directly on 021 531 7971.

CALLING ALL VOLUNTEERS!

The WP Dressage Committee is committed to organizing seminars and clinics with visiting judges and coaches on an ongoing basis in order to improve our sport and to broaden our knowledge. One of the challenges we face is to find demonstration riders and horses each time. Our aim is to develop a list of willing participants that we can call upon when the need arises.

And this is where you come in!

We are not looking for a ‘perfect rider’ or the ‘best horse’: our ideal candidate is someone who wants to learn and from whom we can all import the most learning – together.

Remember that you as the rider can also benefit – you must just have fun, gain as much knowledge and experience as you are able from the presenter and, most importantly, ride for yourself and not to ‘please the audience’.
So if you are willing, we ask to you help us by sending your name, your horse’s name and your current grade to Tanja at tkyle@remaxpa.co.za
USEFUL DRESSAGE TIPS HOW TO UPGRADE YOUR HORSE
DID YOU KNOW...?

...that you can legitimately ride in classes one grade higher than the one in which you currently compete? If you do so, any points accrued will be allocated to your current grade. So if you are wondering whether you want to go up, this gives you the opportunity to dip your toe in the water before jumping right in.

When you are ready to take that plunge then the process is easy. Firstly you need to make sure that you have accumulated at least 10 points in your current grade before you request an upgrade.

If you have those points, all you need to do is to send your request to WPHS (you can send an email to info@wphsgrading.co.za, a fax to 086 2707 358 / 021 532 0367 or post to P O Box 38079, PINELANDS, 7430). You need to state your name, your horse’s name and the grade to which you wish to upgrade. The office will then look up your current grading points and send that note along with your request to the Dressage Committee for approval. You should receive a confirmation from WPHS and then you are good to go!
